WORLD TOURISM DAY

World Tourism Day 2022: World Tourism Day 2022 is celebrated on September 27th each year. The purpose of celebrating this day is to increase international tourism and raise awareness.

World Tourism Day was first celebrated by the United Nations World Trade Organization (UNWTO). Tourism associations in many countries participate in the celebration by launching attractive offers to promote tourism in the city, state or country.

World Tourism Day has been celebrated on September 27th every year since 1980. This day marks the anniversary of the adoption of the UNWTO Charter in 1970, paving the way for the establishment of the UNWTO five years later.

World Tourism Day: Enactment
At its third meeting (September 1979, Torremolinos, Spain), the UNWTO General Assembly decided to establish a World Tourism Day starting in 1980. The date was chosen to coincide with a significant milestone in world tourism, the anniversary of the adoption of the UNWTO Statute on 27 September 1970.
