Embark on a thrilling 9-day adventure in the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains of Uganda. This hiking and climbing package is designed for seasoned mountain climbers seeking a challenge. Located along the western rift valley, at the border between the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda, the Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the “Mountains of the Moon,” offer breathtaking scenery and reach a height of 5,109 meters. These mountains are not only a source of beauty but also provide water for the great River Nile. The surrounding area is home to Queen Elizabeth and Virunga National Parks, offering opportunities to encounter dense forests, pristine lakes, winding rivers, diverse bird species, captivating primates, and fascinating mammals such as buffalo, hippos, elephants, and lions.
Upon your arrival in Uganda, you will be greeted at the airport by our friendly guide who will accompany you throughout the tour. After a warm welcome, you will embark on a scenic drive to the town of Kasese, located near the base of the Rwenzori Mountains. The journey will offer you glimpses of Uganda’s stunning landscapes and rural countryside. Once in Kasese, you will check into your accommodation and have some time to relax and prepare for the adventure ahead.
After a hearty breakfast, you will drive to Nyakalengija, the starting point of your Rwenzori Mountains expedition. Here, you will meet your experienced mountain guide and porters who will assist you throughout the climb. The trek begins with a challenging but rewarding hike through lush vegetation, crossing rivers and streams along the way. You will pass through beautiful landscapes and encounter various bird species and wildlife. Finally, you will reach Nyabitaba Hut, situated at an altitude of 2,652 meters, where you will spend the night.

As you reach John Matte Hut at an elevation of 3,414 meters, you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
The fourth day of your expedition will lead you to Bujuku Hut, situated at an altitude of 3,962 meters. The trail takes you through the magical Bigo Bog, a unique and beautiful alpine wetland. As you ascend, the landscape transforms into stunning alpine scenery, with giant lobelias and heather plants dotting the landscape. Upon reaching Bujuku Hut, you will be treated to breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks.
Prepare for a challenging but exhilarating day as you make your way from Bujuku Hut to Elena Hut. The route will take you across challenging rocky terrain and steep slopes. The final stretch of the day’s hike will bring you to Elena Hut, located at an altitude of 4,541 meters. Take some time to rest and acclimatize to the higher altitude.
