At dawn, gather around the campfire for a hearty breakfast, complete with porridge cooked over open flames. Your morning safari—either on foot or by vehicle—begins shortly after, entering the park by boat or pontoon. This area is home to large elephant herds, Thornicroft’s giraffe, and abundant birdlife.

After breakfast, embark on a game drive through South Luangwa toward the Nsefu Sector. You’ll cross the Luangwa River by boat, where the Nsefu Camp team welcomes you for a short game drive to camp.

Today you may choose a game drive or walking safari through the ebony groves, or take an all-day picnic drive to the remote salt pans—a full immersion into varied habitats that promise outstanding wildlife encounters.

Start the day with breakfast by the fire before another full morning of safari exploration. In the afternoon, you might opt for a visit to Kawaza Village, a community-based tourism project offering genuine insight into local traditions and daily life. This visit must be arranged in advance to ensure an authentic, non-intrusive experience.

After an early breakfast, transfer to Mfuwe Airport for your flight to Lusaka, and onward to the Lower Zambezi National Park. From the air, you’ll spot the vast Zambezi River dotted with islands, elephants, and pods of hippos.

Chongwe offers a range of activities: day and night game drives, walking safaris, canoe trips, pontoon boat cruises, and catch-and-release fishing for the legendary tigerfish (in season). You set your own pace—perhaps a morning paddle followed by a relaxed afternoon watching elephants cross the river.

Another day of varied exploration awaits. You might start with a morning game drive along the escarpment foothills, followed by an afternoon on the water, drifting past hippos and crocodiles. Evenings are spent dining alfresco under Africa’s star-filled skies.

After breakfast, transfer to the airstrip for your flight to Livingstone via Lusaka. Staff from Tongabezi Lodge will meet you for the short transfer to this romantic riverside retreat.

The day is yours to tailor. Included lodge activities range from sunrise and sunset boat trips to game drives in Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, canoeing, bird walks, and visits to the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, local markets, and nearby villages.

After breakfast, enjoy one last morning activity before your transfer to the airport for onward travel.
