Muhumuza Humphery Cliff: From a Childhood Dream to African Tourism
Muhumuza Humphery Cliff is a Ugandan tourism entrepreneur, accountant and the Founder of LittleRock Safaris, a destination management company creating premium and luxury safari experiences across East and Southern Africa.
His love for tourism began long before he knew it would become his career.
Born and bred in Fort Portal, Uganda’s Tourism City, Cliff grew up in the late 1980s and early 1990s watching tourists explore the town and its surrounding attractions, including Amabere Caves and the beautiful crater lakes of western Uganda.
As a young schoolboy at Buhinga Primary School, he was fascinated by travellers. In the days before the internet and social media, he would visit hotels such as Mountains of the Moon and Wooden Hotel after school, chatting with tourists and collecting their postal addresses so they could become his pen pals.
In 1989, at just 10 years old and in Primary Five, Cliff took his curiosity a step further. He wrote a letter to Queen Elizabeth II through the postal system. To his amazement, a response arrived from Buckingham Palace, including information about the history of the British monarchy.
That moment left a lasting impression and strengthened his fascination with the wider world.
His passion continued through secondary school at St. Leo’s College, where he interacted with travellers around the Ruteete crater lakes and Kibale Forest region. Although he trained and worked as an accountant, his professional life gave him even more opportunities to travel, discover Uganda and take friends on trips.
In 2012, Cliff turned his passion into a business and founded LittleRock Safaris.
What began as a childhood fascination with tourists has grown into a proudly Ugandan tourism brand and destination management company operating across Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and South Africa.
Today, LittleRock Safaris is backed by a dedicated team of experienced safari professionals and a fleet of comfortable luxury safari vehicles, delivering carefully crafted journeys built around authentic experiences, comfort, exceptional service and happy clients.
