Mgahinga Gorilla National Park
Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, located in the southwestern corner of Uganda, is a small but significant protected area covering approximately 33.7 square kilometres. Despite its size, the park holds immense ecological importance as it is part of the larger Virunga Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site shared between Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The primary draw of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park is its population of critically endangered mountain gorillas, which roam the dense forests of the Virunga Mountains. Visitors to the park have the unique opportunity to explore the gorilla trekking expeditions, guided by experienced trackers, to observe these gentle giants in their natural habitat.
