Nyungwe Forest National Park
Nyungwe Forest National Park, located in southwestern Rwanda, is a pristine rainforest sanctuary known for its exceptional biodiversity and stunning natural beauty. Covering an area of approximately 1,020 square kilometres, Nyungwe Forest is one of the largest montane forests in East and Central Africa, offering a haven for numerous plant and animal species.
The forest is home to over 13 different primate species, including chimpanzees, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and L'Hoest's monkeys, making it a prime destination for primate tracking and wildlife viewing. Nyungwe Forest is also a birdwatcher's paradise, with over 300 bird species, including the rare and endemic Albertine Rift species.
